"Try to Remember" was originally sung by Jerry Orbach in the Original Off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks. The song made the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart three times in 1965 in versions by Ed Ames, Roger Williams, Barry McGuire, The Kingston Trio, The Sandpipers, and The Brothers Four.

The song was written by Tom Jones (no, not that Tom Jones) and Harvey Schmidt composed the music. It's from the 1960 musical comedy "The Fantasticks".
