"Up on Cripple Creek" was written by Band guitarist and principal songwriter Robbie Robertson, with drummer Levon Helm singing lead vocal. Jaime Royal "Robbie" Robertson,OC was a Canadian musician, songwriter, film composer, producer, actor, and author. Levon Helm died in 2012, Robbie Robertson died in 2023, and the oldest and last surviving member of The Band, a virtuoso Canadian keyboardist named Garth Hudson, died last month in January 2025. The Band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
