Ballad of Bowser MacRae

From David Francey's album "Right of Passage" 2007, which won a 2008 Juno award for best Roots/Traditional album! David says: "One of the most interesting people I have met on my travels, Greg (Bowser) MacRae was the third mate on the MV Algoville" - a Lake Boat.

YOU CAN PLAY ALONG WITH THE 2nd VIDEO USING THE (D) SONGSHEET! On BUG night we'll use the (C) songsheet.

You've GOT to listen to David's story about how he came to write the song, as he tells it in the first video. Then you'll know why I HAD to post it! And anyone who knows me knows I'm crazy about freighters! Sadly, Bowser MacRae left his earthly body on October 27, 2019, but we think of him every time we sing this song: https://www.saltwire.com/halifax/obituaries/gregory-macrae-28908/

Right of Passage is an intimate recording of thirteen original David Francey songs, backed by a stellar cast of musicians. Craig Werth, Geoff Somers, Shane Simpson, and Julia Davie joined David at Signal Path Studio in the beautiful town of Almonte, Ontario, which is just on the outskirts of Ottawa.

The CD is on the label, Laker Music, which is in Almonte. How's that for an indie label! Made in Canada! Here's a link for more information: http://www.davidfrancey.com/Rightofpassage.html

Here's a song sheet I found on Cranford Publications Celtic Colours collection: https://www.cranfordpub.com/celtic-colours/FranceyBowser.htm
