Joel Plaskett said about the video for "Hey Moon (A Campfire Song)" : "“In early August I went up to the beach at Sinclairs Island where Mike Hall filmed me singing this version of Hey Moon. Sand isn’t great for a cassette recorder and microphone but if you want the “Recorded on Magnetic Tape beside a Campfire on the Beach” badge for your Scouts uniform you gotta take the risk.”
Alan Doyle covered the song for the album, Songs From The Gang, A Celebration of Joel Plaskett, which was released in April 2025, one week before Joel Plaskett's 50th birthday. Doyle said, “I love so many of Joel’s songs but this one always whispered to me personally and reminded me of hundreds of nights in my youth singing with pals around a campfire and inviting the moon and stars and anyone else to join us.” The project features Canadian artists including Alan Doyle, City and Colour, Bahamas, Arkells, and Sloan covering songs written by Plaskett.
