If tickets should sell out you can put yourself on the Red Bird ShowPass Waiting List, or if you've bought tickets and would like to make them available to folks on the waiting list, see info below under the heading Waitlist and Ticket Resale.

TIME:   7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. If you arrive before that time, please line up outside as with all other ticketed Red Bird shows. BUG jammers are not permitted to wait in the lobby - that area is reserved for students and their parents. There is also a group class running in the main room before our jam. The people you may see going in and out before 6:45 p.m. are music students, their parents, and staff.

Red Bird is a live music listening venue in Ottawa South with a brand new ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilator) HVAC ventilation system installed in November 2021 - ERV improves indoor air quality by providing fresh outside air. The venue is at street level with front and back doors.

YOU CAN REQUEST A SONG THAT YOU'D LIKE US TO SING BY CHOOSING ONE FROM OUR SONG LIBRARY  and then emailing me the title at Sue@bytownukulele.ca Better yet - why not grab a couple of friends and volunteer to lead the song. It's wonderful fun when we get lots of different BUGs at the mics to lead songs, so please don't be shy! Email me the name of a song that you'd like to lead. Of course, Mark and I and lots of other BUGs are always happy to sing and play along with you as well!  Just let me know if you need it in a different key to suit your voice.

YOU CAN ALSO SUBMIT A NEW SONGSHEET, in an editable text file, along with a link to a YouTube video that best represents how you like to play it to Sue@bytownukulele.ca.  I'll work with you to format it for BUG. If you sing it differently than an artist's recording, then please send me a video of you performing the song so that I can format the songsheet to how YOU play the song.
DEADLINE for song requests & new songsheet submissions:  February 5, 2025, but sooner is better.

OPEN MIC:  We have two or three open mic spots at each jam. If you're interested in a spot, please email me, Sue@bytownukulele.ca, with the name of the song you'd like to sing and the artist/songwriter. If spots are full, you'll be put on a waiting list for the next available spot. If you love open mic sessions, we'd also highly encourage you to participate in Red Bird's Open Stage on Tuesday evenings.

SEATING:  1000 square feet on the main floor with seats for 86 people. There are some padded chairs and love seats with side tables, regular chairs and tables, and high chairs and tables at the back and along the sides.

FOOD & DRINK:  Red Bird has a delicious selection of delicious snacks, gluten-free/nut-free/vegan baked goods from Strawberry Blonde Bakery and lots of other treats, as well as local beers, ciders, non-alcoholic craft sodas, cocktails, wine, and coffee/tea - all locally sourced.

ACCESSIBILITY: 6 steps up from the Bank St. sidewalk, with handrails

WASHROOMS:  on main floor

PARKING:  street parking and small parking lot at the south end of the building.

WAITLIST AND TICKET RESALE:

Red Bird will use their ShowPass Waitlist and Ticket Resale system for BUG Jams, just as Red Bird does with their other events. It’s the same system you use to purchase BUG Jam tickets through Red Bird.

  • How to use Red Bird ShowPass Waitlist after tickets have sold out: Here's a link explaining how it works: Joining a Waitlist  If tickets become available for you, you'll receive an email and have 24 hours to purchase the tickets you requested. These tickets will cost you $15 (the regular $10 ticket fee plus a $5 ShowPass fee for handling). You can always remove your name from the waitlist.
  • How to use Red Bird ShowPass Ticket Resales to get the tickets you can't use to the people on the Waiting List: You create a ShowPass account (it’s simple – I did it for the tickets I buy to Red Bird and likely you may have already created one too.) Then you follow these easy instructions:  Ticket Resales  You can also cancel your resale if you find that you can make it to the jam after all and your tickets haven't yet sold. Once your ticket has been sold to someone on the wait list, you will receive a confirmation email along with your refund (within 7 business days).

IF YOU CAN'T JOIN US LIVE for whatever reason, no worries! We record the jam, so that you can play along with us anytime! We'll upload the jam video and the songbook we use for the evening on our BUG Jam Videos page.
