The original key is F# major, so in GCEA tuning you'll have to detune a semi-tone to play along with the video! Thanks to Virginia Geffros for the suggestion!
"Last Song" spent 18 weeks on the U.S. charts, and peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100. It reached number one in Canada, and did the same on the Adult Contemporary charts of both nations. "Last Song" was certified gold in the United States by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In 1994, music industry magazine RPM placed "Last Song" at number 20 on its list of the Top 100 Canadian singles since the magazine's founding in 1964.
The Canadian group, The Edward Bear Revue, later Edward Bear, was formed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in 1966 by singer and percussionist Larry Evoy, keyboardist and bass player, Paul Weldon, and Craig Hemming who was only with the band a short time. The name is derived from A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh, whose "proper" name is Edward Bear. The band signed with Capitol Records in 1969 with a lineup of Evoy, guitarist/vocalist Danny Marks and keyboardist/vocalist Paul Weldon, and had several hits including "Last Song", "You, Me and Mexico", "Close Your Eyes", "Masquerade" and others. Edward Bear won a Juno Award in 1973 for outstanding group performance. By then, most of the band's original lineup had left. Evoy remained as the primary songwriter and organizer, rebuilding the band twice, until it finally was disbanded in 1974.
