The song "Rawhide" was used as the theme to Rawhide, the western television series that ran on CBS from 1959 to 1966. Members of the Western Writers of America chose it as one of the Top 100 Western songs of all time. The song is about the job of a drover on a cattle drive. The song came to fame again when it was performed in the "The Blues Brothers", a 1980 American musical comedy film starring John Belushi as "Joliet" Jake Blues and Dan Aykroyd as his brother Elwood, characters developed from the recurring musical sketch "The Blues Brothers" on the NBC variety series Saturday Night Live.
