"Christmas Island" was written by American composer and songwriter, Lyle Moraine, in 1946, and it was first recorded by The Andrews Sisters with Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians, in the same year.

The inspiration for "Christmas Island" came from Moraine’s visit to the tiny island, an external Australian territory in the Indian Ocean, where he was captivated by its stunning natural beauty and unique traditions. The territory derives its name from its discovery on Christmas Day 1643 by Captain William Mynors.
