Mark and I are very excited to announce that we will be moving our Bytown Ukulele Group (BUG) Jam to a new home starting with our BUG Jam on July 16!
Our BUG Jams will now be held at:
Ottawa Masonic Centre
2nd Floor Lounge
2140 Walkley Road, Ottawa
RING THE DOORBELL FOR ADMITTANCE TO THE CENTRE ANYTIME AFTER 6 P.M.
The 2nd floor lounge (see photos below) includes the following benefits:
• Free parking for 140, including 8 handicapped parking spots
• Centrally located between east and west ends of the city, right near the 417 Walkley exit
• Directly on bus route 41 and near bus route 48
• Wheelchair accessible via an elevator
• Regular height tables and chairs for all and lots of room for coats, ukuleles and cases, devices, printed chord charts, etc.
• For the first jam at Masonic, 80+ spots will be available. We'll see how that works. Depending on sight lines to the screen and participant's comfort, we may add more seating. The room capacity is the largest we've ever had!
• You may want to bring your device with the BUG Jam PDF Songbook downloaded on it, especially for the first jam, JUST in case we have any challenges with screen visibility initially. Mark and I have purchased a new 8 foot screen and a new short-throw projector for our BUG Jams which we hope will be fantastic for everyone!
• We'll have a dedicated bar and bar tender with very reasonable prices for domestic, premium, and imported beers, wine by the glass or bottle, single and premium malts, blended whiskies, etc. as well as water, pop, juices, packaged snacks.
• AND we can bring in our own food, so if you’d like to bring in pizza, subs, burgers, etc and have dinner before the jam with your uke friends you can!
• You will not have to wait outside – just ring the doorbell, anytime after 6, and come on inside to have fun chatting and ogling each others’ ukes.
TIME: BUG Jam will go back to our original time of 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
COST: $10 tickets, to cover hall rental, must be purchased in advance. Details and links for buying tickets can be found on each individual event posting on the BUG Jams & Events page.
DATES: Once a month on Wednesday nights from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. However, not necessarily on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. This will give Mark and I more flexibility to enjoy our skiing and camping adventures!
Upcoming dates at the Ottawa Masonic Centre lounge are as follows: 2025 – July 16, August 20, October 15, November 19, December 10 2026 – January 14, February 11, March 18, April 15, May 20, June 17, July 15, August 19, etc.
Mark and I think we can all make this a fun new home for BUG – maybe our best ever!
