    Download the Lyrics and Chords

Try the lovely [Em7no5] chord at the beginning - form your Em chord as usual and then just drop your 4th finger (pinky) on the 1st string (closest to the floor), 5th fret. YOU CAN PLAY ALONG WITH THE VIDEO IN GCEA TUNING if you put your capo on the 2nd fret!

This song is by Fred Eaglesmith and appears on the album Lipstick, Lies & Gasoline (1997).

I told Sue at the last BUG Night that I could find a Fred song to fit any theme. This one's pushing it a little, but he name-checks many of the luminaries of the time, and perhaps it can be considered a word of warning as we gather in a pub, imbibe our drinks and seek uke superstardom!

Give a hippie the keys to the site and he goes and adds a dozen songs...

If we do end up doing this song, let's leave it for the second set after we've already established a groovy 60s mood...

(Besides, there's nothing like tipsy people singing that chorus!)

Hi Charles,

Beautiful...yet sad...

I've formatted your text into a document that we can print for the binders. If you get a chance, could you check it out and see if it's okay? Thanks!
