To play in the same key as the video GCEA tuning, put your capo on the 5th fret. Normally these days you only hear the song starting at verse number 3 - but it's a shame to leave out the wonderful introductory verses that were so common in these Tin Pan Alley songs - they help tell the story - the before and after!

"On the Sunny Side of the Street" is a 1930 song, with credited music composed by Jimmy McHugh and lyrics by Dorothy Fields. It was introduced in the Broadway musical Lew Leslie's International Revue, starring Harry Richman and Gertrude Lawrence.

The songsheet has most of the original lyrics from the 1930 Broadway musical as recorded by Harry Richman but has been slightly abridged for group play.
